His Favorite Christmas Story
Noelle showed me this song the other day. I thought it was cute; if a bit sad.
It's the first one on the list as of Nov. 11, 2009, but I can't guarantee that I won't change it.
(I know, I know, it's a bit early for Christmas music. . . Thanksgiving is overlooked. . . blah blah blah!! It's a good song!! Just listen to it!!)

I'll be lookin' for tomorrow on the loose.
We love god's summer home! Miss it already!

Flip-Flopped With My Sis
I think this world is messed up. Have I mentioned that before? The United States has problems! It's not just obesity and heart disease. . . it's mind problems. Pornography and inappropriate television; things that shouldn't be acceptable are a part of society! I think walking around in a bikini or a speedo should be outlawed! It's disgusting!
Take my little sister, for example. My littlest sister, who is currently six, acts like she's my age! She cares more about hair and makeup and clothes than I do, and she thinks she is the most "popular" kid in her kindergarten class. Is this weird? Maybe it's just "normal," but I think it's bizarre.
You see, I was still watching dragon tales and playing Barbie dolls in sixth grade. Is that weird? I just thought I was normal until I got into seventh grade and realized that I was a total dork who didn't brush my hair, had broken glasses, and a wardrobe that would've been popular in the eighties. I didn't watch a PG-13 movie until I was 14, and my little sisters have already seen several. My six-year-old sister wants to wear a bikini and have a cell phone. I, at age fourteen, still watch Winnie the Pooh and Spongebob. Which one of us is messed up?

Superb Acting. . . . .
These performances are some of my favorites of all time, and not just from Doctor Who. Hope you like them. The first one makes me laugh, and the second one makes me cry every single time!! Enjoy. (:

In A World of Sick Minds. . .
"Pick your balls up."
What immediately comes to your mind?
In the world of sick minds that we live in, you have to be careful what you say. Soccer camp was quite interesting, with the boys laughing their guts out every time the coach told them to drop their balls, throw their balls, gather their balls together, kick their balls, or anything having anything to do with balls. And I wonder. . . who ever decided to change that meaning?
It's like the word gay. Gay used to mean happy! Why change it? It rhymes with say and day and weigh and lay; and now it's been forbidden from common use! I can't use it in poetry at all. If I say, "Every single day, you make me feel gay." (Lame poetry, I know, I could most certainly do better, but still!) It bugs me that it is interpreted in. . . that way. . .
Another word: thong. Seriously, did someone invent this word so that we could laugh at old people? Old people who say that they could go around all summer wearing only thongs? Those poor old people!! Why are we so cruel to them?
You can make anything a sick word, though. Any phrase can become sick and twisted. All you have to do is add, "That's what she said, " or, "If you know what I mean, " at the end of every sentence. I would give examples. . . but you people who have sick minds have probably heard them. Those who haven't heard them. . . I don't want to contaminate you!!
Just so you know, if you hang out with sick minded people, these jokes become unavoidable. I would give you the advice to be careful what you say, but, anything can become nasty, when it really comes down to it. *shiver* Just try to stay. . . somewhat regular.
(P.S. If you know what I mean. . .)

2012 - I Sense Party Material!
December 21, 2012. The day that is causing mass hysteria amongst scientists, the common people, and those long-lasters who still believe in the Mayan religion. What exactly is going to happen? No one knows for sure. Is it the end of the world? Extinction of man? (that would take a while, survival instinct is too strong.) Millenium? Paradigm shift? A new beginning? We'll find out soon enough. In about three and a half years, actually. Is this just like Yk2 or 666, or is it for "real" this time?
If you ask me, I'll tell you that I'm not taking sides. I don't know about the end of the world; insane amounts of natural disasters, maybe, but I don't believe that man will go extinct or the world will blow up. I think the pole switch theory is pretty neat, but. . . don't get me off on a tangent. I'm really not too concerned about what will happen; maybe nothing at all will happen. All I know is that December 21, 2012, great excuse to hold a party!
You see, December 21 lies on a Friday. The estimated time of most of the drama is going to be at 18 minutes past 22:00 hours, which comes to approximately 10:20 P.M. So, here's my plan:
- Invite some of my nerdy friends over
- Hold the party until. . . ooooh, eleven or midnight!
- Do odd things. . . pretty much bucket list items
- Eat cheetos and drink coca-cola
- Marvel at the wonders of the world
- Watch sci-fi movies
- Freak Out!!
It's a pretty good list, and I think it's the makings for a great party! Of course, there is that slight chance that the world might end on the 23rd. . . but if that is the case, I'll be at my house, probably watching MORE sci-fi movies. And, that'll be the end of the world. A giant party! You're all invited, mark your calendars.
(P.S. and start writing a bucket list.)

Having to Do With Bananas

I checked out a book from the library today. It's called: Random Kinds of Factness- 1001 (or so) Absolutely True Tidbits About (almost) Everything.
It's a pretty interesting book and it's completely full of random facts. And as you may know, I'm a sucker when it comes to random facts. (At least, ones that may be useful while watching Jeopardy or playing Trivial Pursuit.) So, as I was reading this nifty little book, I came across the song with the highest sales.
It's not 'Happy Birthday', 'The Star Spangled Banner' or 'Yesterday', It's 'Yes, We Have No Bananas' by Frank Silver and Irving Cohn.
I thought this was particularly odd, especially after I listened to it on YouTube and didn't find it at all pleasing. I'm surprised that 'Iris' by the Goo Goo Dolls hadn't matched it up; or killed by a classic from the Beach Boys or the Beatles. But no, the banana freak song stole the show.
Then, I start thinking about the significance that bananas have played in civilization. I don't know what our particular species finds so appealing about bananas. We write songs about bananas, make lame banana jokes, slip on banana peels, and in some cases we eat the bananas. Even from the beginning we were hooked to this oddly-shaped yellow fruit: they've always been a monkey favorite.
What is it that makes us like bananas so much? Is it it's interesting shape? Bright color? Mushy taste? High potassium level? Or is it just the fun of peeling it? I don't think we'll ever know.
I Googled "Cool Banana Facts" and came up with a cool bunch of banana stuff. I find it very interesting, and I don't feel to weird because, well, we're all monkeys at heart!
First, a banana gives an instant, substantial boost of energy. Did you know that two bananas will sustain you for a 90-minute workout? Banana Power!!
Have you ever felt better after eating a banana? This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, which is known to make you fell happy and puts you in a better mood. No wonder the banana is in the shape of a smile!
Research shows (and we should all believe research. . .) that potassium packed fruits, such as bananas, can help improve brain power. Many students have proven this by eating three bananas a day to improve test performance.
Bananas have a natural antiacid effect, so eating a banana will help fight heartburn!
Banana peels soothe insect bites. (So they say. No guarantees, people!) It can also be used to cure warts!
When you compare a banana to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium!
Of course, I have to mention that Doctor Who is quite obsessed with bananas. If you watch "The Empty Child" and the other one I forgot the name of. . . (it has Madam de Pompodour in it from season two) both talk about bananas.
If you're a less sci-fi oriented person, then you should at least be familiar with this phrase:
"A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"
(and it does a whole lot better job than the apple!)

Academic Team
Our Academic team is doing pretty well so far this season. . . we won our first game, but lost the second one. The good thing is, in the second game I answered TWO questions right!!! It was great, considering that last year my overall score was -1. That was becasue I only answered one question and I got it wrong lol.
Question 1: What is the name of a change or addition to the constitution?
Question 2: What state is the top dairy producer of the world and is also sometimes known as the cheese state?
So, they weren't so hard. In case you don't know, the answer to Q.1 is 'an ammendment' and the answer to Q.2 is 'Wisconsin.'
Wish us luck for the next game on Tuesday!

Hey Everyone.
First of all, Christmas was great. Guess what I got?? A new digi-camera! Watch out world!! I'm coming to take pictures of you!
Second order of buisness, I just finished watching season three of Doctor Who. Not like anyone really cares, but just so you know, it was amazing. HERE COME THE DRUMS!!!! It was fantastic!!
Thirdly, I'm going to Hawaii! I'm SOOO excited! We're going to go stay in a beach house by the hukilau beach. (yes, hukilau from the song.) :) So I won't be seeing y'all until the eighth. (!!!!)
Fourth topic, I'm really bored. I haven't done anything this weekend, really. . . I mean, at least anything productive. I can't live with myself when I'm not going anywhere, that's the truth. No wonder I'm an honor student. lol. I have nothing to read! My mom won't take me to Holliday Library to get books!
Fift - nevermind. That's all I got. Hope everyone had a merry christmas, and have a happy new year!

???
I have writer's block!! AAAHHHGG!
But according to the professionals, the best way to get rid of writer's block is to write, so here I go. This article is going to include many various ideas about. . . popcorn.
I love popcorn. It is one of the best snack foods on the planet, even if you're on a diet. Actually, if you eat a ton of popcorn on a diet, it probably wouldn't help you too much. (Unless, of course, you ate the popcorn plain.) I can hardly stand going to a movie theater without popcorn, it's just traditional.
I like kettle corn the most. It's way good. It tastes sweet and crunchy at the same time. . . yum.
Although you can never go wrong with the normal movie theater butter popcorn, like I said, it's traditional. You know what? They should serve kettle corn at movie theaters! That would be totally sweet. . . literally! Maybe they already serve it? I don't know, I've never seen it if they do.
In fact, I'm eating popcorn right now!! (Imaginary popcorn. . .)
Thank you for reading Melanie's random topic of the whenever. ( : smilee face!

My New CentralVac
I bet you read the title of that and are now very confused. A centralvac is this cool kind of vacuum cleaner.
To explain it? Well, there are little holes in the wall everywhere. (They're not just random punches in the wall, but they have pipes and covers over them.) The vacuum is this puny little thing, it's like a stick with the . . . uh
. . . sucker thingamabobber at the end. So, basically, you plug that into any one of those holes and then press the on switch. Then you vacuum wherever you need to vacuum. (Duh)
All of the stuff sucked up by the vacuum goes down into a giant plastic bag downstairs, and you only have to empty it like once a month. Cool, huh?
Bye, bye, heavy evil vacuum!
Let's welcome the new . . . (drumroll) CentralVac!

General Conference
Was general conference awesome or what? I learned a lot this weekend, so much that I don't even want to write it down! (I'm not being sarcastic, I really did learn a lot, but, uh, it's kind of hard to remember so I don't think I could write it down if I tried. . .)
I love it when the general authorities tell stories. My favorite story was told by . . . um . . . that one old guy. (Sorry, I can't be specific about which old guy.)It was the story of how his daughter was going to go on a blind date, and the guy came and rang the doorbell. The daughter was a little surprised at how old this man was, but she smiled as he introduced himself to her parents, and then she walked with him out to the car. (Er, I wasn't listenening entirely well because during this talk I was either eating breakfast or lunch, reading the paper, or doing some other totally random thing like maybe oragami.) So, she went out and got in his car, but he didn't leave. A few minutes later, she came back in, and told her parents that she had agreed to be the man's babysitter. Oh my gosh, would that be embarassing or what???
So, that's my general conference experience. Cool, no?

War of The Worlds
Help me, I'm falling asleep . . .
So, I'm attempting to read War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells right now. Wowza! It's soooo boring. . . The only book I've ever read that was harder to get through than this one was a book about htis amish girl who was forced to go to school. Actually, on that subject, I didn't even finish reading that book, I think I fell asleep about two chapters into it. No, I literally fell asleep.
Then again, I almost fell asleep when I was reading War of the Worlds this afternoon, too. So, I just finished book one, and I layed down on my bed to rest my eyes, and I ended up dozing off for a minute, but then the book slipped out of my hands and landed on my alarm clock and it hit the snooze button, which turned on my radio and made me jump like three feet in the air.
So, I guess this entry is just sort of stalling me from reading . . . even though I really should finish it . . .
*sigh* I do like science fiction. I really do! In fact, it's one of my favorite genres, but for some reason a story of people running around England like chickens with their heads cut off isn't so great. I'm already to the hundred thirty-fifth page and nothing has happened!!!!
Okay. I hope you were really bored and had fun reading that, because I don't even care if anyone even reads this becasue it basically just says how insanely boring War of the Worlds is.
(P.S: I am sooo going to catch up with your reading after I finish this one tongiht . . . mwahahahaha . . . . !!!!)

Prince Charming
Okay, guys, I am really distressed right now! Guess what??? The prince on Cinderella DOESN'T HAVE A NAME! His name is just plain old stupid prince, or prince charming, as he's referred to in the book. Talk about boring. All characters are supposed to have names! Especially the hansem prince! It should be like the other Disney movies, with all of the cute guy names like Edward, Eric, and Phillip. Nope, they just decided that he wasn't important enough to name. Go figure.

Henry Hudson
WaaAAAaaaHhhhHH!!! I had to present my Henry Hudson report today in front of the whole honors class and Mrs. Wright!!! That was soooo scary! Was I shaking? I know I was shaking. I felt like I was going to fall over, as in pass out! That was scarier than spiders and jellyfish!! wait. . . maybe not jellyfish. Do you know what's even scarier? What's my grade gonna be?? We all know Mrs. Wright is a pretty tough judge, and I was all butterflies!
Oh, well. Hey, at least it's done and over with, but I would sooo rather have dome it in Mrs. Jacklin's class.
I just read over that, and it really didn't make too much sense. haha. Just read it a few times and you'll eventually understand what I was trying to say.
